Scott Smyth graduated in 2017 with a Distinction in MDes Communication Design. Scott’s work examines the relationship with traditional industries found in the Outer Hebrides. Employing a colour palette found in the dyes of the weaving industry made from native plants and fauna and landscape.
He explores traditional industries such as fishing, crofting and weaving, employing the process used in traditional crafts such as weaving on Hattersley Looms to compose the image.
Scott’s interest in the Outer Hebrides has developed to involve him learning Gaelic to comment on issues relating to the Outer Hebrides and Highlands and Islands in the native language. He is currently involved in several project relating to Gaelic culture.
